Mass. gets first privately financed youth sports facility

Last September, a small army of workers with bulldozers, backhoes, trucks, and other heavy equipment finally began clearing a portion of a 140-acre wooded area that Attleboro officials had long eyed as the site of a future industrial park. In coming weeks, private developers plan to start pouring the foundations of four buildings totaling nearly 400,000 square feet of space. But the site, tucked just off Interstate 95 near Rhode Island, isn’t going to host warehouses, light-manufacturing, or other facilities commonly associated with suburban industrial parks. Instead, the site will be the home of the New England Sports Village.
